All About Light’nin Jim!
This
is the www site of ‘Lightnin’ Jim Pates. A Guitarist,
Singer/Song
writer of over 35 years during which time
he has become an accomplished
exponent of virtually all styles of
playing. Whilst in the halcyon days of
the late ‘60’s and early ‘70’s Rock
Music was the order of the day, Jim
has touched on Classical, Country and
Western, Jazz/Rag Time and a
wide variety of popular music before
‘Coming Home’ to the Blues over
the last few years. Why Lightnin’ – well, why not? Many of the old Blues
legends went under such names as Lightnin’
Muddy
Waters etc. etc. Almost no one is known simply by his or her given
names!
Instruments and gear:
Jim
plays an Ovation Ultra Series semi acoustic for much of the time, this is
supplemented by a Godin
LGX-SA electric that is equipped with Humbuckers,
Pizzo bridge pickup and a Roland
compatible divided pickup for those
occasional
for live venues and this is
supplemented (As though it needs it!) by a Boss
GT-8
Multi Effects Peddle Board. For Slide work a
tuned to an open ‘D’ or ‘G’ depending on
the song provides an uncommon
configuration for this type of music.
